Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray launched a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) following a meeting between MNS chief Raj Thackeray and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Uddhav accused the BJP of trying to "steal" another "Thackeray" to bolster their chances in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. He further alleged that the BJP is attempting to appropriate the legacy of Bal Thackeray.

During a rally in Nanded, Uddhav asserted that he is unperturbed by the BJP's maneuvers and stated that he doesn't mind if they lure his estranged cousin away. The meeting between Raj Thackeray and Amit Shah fueled speculations about a potential alliance between MNS and BJP for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls in Maharashtra.

Uddhav Thackeray took a dig at the BJP's electoral strategy in Maharashtra, emphasizing that votes in the state are garnered in the name of Bal Thackeray rather than Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He criticized the BJP's attempts to appropriate Thackeray's legacy and leaders from outside their party fold.

The Shiv Sena (UBT) chief also reflected on the image of Shiv Sena during its alliance with the BJP, stating that their Hindutva stance resonates well even with Christians and Muslims. He reiterated his party's commitment to maintaining its identity and values within the Maha Vikas Aghadi and INDIA bloc, opposing BJP's alleged tactics to gain political advantage.

The strained relationship between Uddhav and Raj Thackeray, leading to the latter's formation of the MNS, was also underscored. Despite Raj Thackeray's oratory skills and following, his impact in Maharashtra politics has been limited, attributed to controversial remarks and criticisms against certain communities, including north Indians.
